Wild Wing Avocet Renovation Reaches Major Milestones

Wild Wing’s Avocet Course renovation continues to make significant progress, with the project entering one of its most exciting phases. Crews are sprigging the new greens with Tif 3D bermudagrass—the newest generation of Tif turf—making Wild Wing the first course in the area to feature the new variety.
Construction on the new bunker system is also nearing completion, with improved drainage, new concrete liners, and zoysia surrounds designed to reduce maintenance while providing more consistent playing conditions.
Beyond the greens and bunkers, the course has undergone a dramatic visual transformation. Selective tree clearing has opened sightlines throughout the property, creating a more expansive feel and showcasing more of the course’s natural beauty. Golfers can also expect larger green approaches that encourage a wider variety of shot options and enhance overall playability.
While grow-in work continues before the course is ready to reopen, the combination of new Tif 3D greens, rebuilt bunkers, expanded approaches, improved infrastructure, and enhanced views is coming together to create one of the Grand Strand’s most anticipated golf course reopenings. According to Superintendent Chris Seymour, golfers will immediately notice the new greens, larger approaches, and dramatically improved views when the Avocet Course welcomes players back.
